Now that our new Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Business Advisor Sarah Truglio has been in her position for a month we decided it was time to sit down with her and ask a few questions about how she’s adjusting and give everyone a chance to get to know her better.
What exactly do you do for the SBDC?
I serve Yakima, Kittitas, and Klickitat Counties as a business advisor. SBDC Advisors provide in depth business counseling and coaching for new companies and existing businesses in areas such as marketing, financial analysis, business planning and expansion, market research, and exporting just to name a few. These services are offered at no cost.
How do you like the new position so far?
I am feeling right at home and enjoying all the new day to day opportunities & experiences.
From the minute I settled into my office, my phone has been ringing.
What are the challenges?
Getting familiar with a new area, meeting key community stakeholders and new clients. Learning all the new rules and regulations in my organization.
Trying to fill Linda’s Johnson’s shoes, she was well respected and liked and I have a lot of work ahead of me to establish those well seeded relationships.
What do you particularly enjoy about the new position?
Every day is something new, new questions, learning new things about local businesses.
The team I am working with at YCDA is amazing, everyone is specialized in a certain area of Economic Development and that has been very helpful with answering particular client questions.
Where did you work previously and can you tell us a little about your experience?
I have spent the last 6 years with the Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce, managing a successful Business Incubator and 2 Co-working spaces, administering microloan funding for small business financing, providing business outreach and technical support to businesses throughout Kittitas County. I am also certified in Business Incubation Management.

I’ve been married to my husband Ted for almost twenty years and have 2 sons, Jack and Cole. They are very active in sports so you may spot us at local games and sports events. I enjoy reading, skiing, hiking, and spending time with family.
